ABOUT THE SITE

There’s never been as much free stuff online to study English, so why this site?

Adam’s Free English is here to help guide you through the good and the not-so-good.

Lessons

I call them English Essentials. It’s a set of links to quick and easy video lessons covering all the main areas of English language learning. Ideal for self-study, blended learning and flipped classroom teaching. From grammar and vocab to pronunciation and essay writing, I’ll keep adding new lesson links as I find good ones.

Resources

Here are the best free online resources I can find. You can browse through the topic pages – listed on the homepage – to find the best sites for your specific needs. Video-based learning, grammar exercises, quizzes, games, YouTube and vocab builders – it’s all out there, and mostly free-to-use!

Reviews

My YouTube channel is regularly updated with honest reviews of the great – and not-so-great –  content available for ESL/EFL self-study. I’ll help you to navigate through the sites to find the best content for reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, exam practice and everything else you need. I’ll give an honest, impartial account of which sites I recommend, and which ones to avoid.

Remember – just because it’s free, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be quality too!

About Adam

With over 25 years’ experience as a native-speaking, qualified English teacher, I’ve tutored literally thousands of learners from over 45 countries. I’ve taught in Russia, Spain, Poland and the UK, as well as online tutoring students all over the world through my 1:1 lessons.

I also set up and co-directed my own family-run school – Leeds Languages – which ran for ten years, specialising in general English and IELTS preparation.

One-to-one lessons

I get regular requests to run 1:1 lessons, but unfortunately I don’t have much free time for private tuition these days. If anyone is interested I have occasional availability in these areas only – general and business English, IELTS preparation, GCSE revision and Functional Skills English.

All details can be found on my website – 121 English Online.

Meantime, I’ll be uploading regular videos and posts on this site and my YouTube channel to help anyone studying all aspects of English language.

See you soon!

Adam

Contact

It’s always nice to get feedback on the site, or suggestions of sites and resources to include. However, I won’t respond to unsolicited sales pitches or requests for free lessons (I know it’s called Adam’s Free English but that’s not what I mean, and you know it!).
