Business English

Having taught business English extensively, I would strongly recommend that you find a good tutor to work with, rather than studying alone, especially if you are aiming to get your English level to a high standard. The best tutors aren’t cheap (my prices are here), but a handful of lessons are worth their weight in gold if they help you get a top job!

For those learners who really have no budget to work with, there are some resources out there which can help.

Here are my suggestions for the best (free) sites for studying business English:

The British Council have a very good section on their Learning English site devoted to Business English. With a business magazine and sections on writing emails and interview preparation, it’s well worth browsing.

Business English Site.com is a very nice free site, specialising in business English. With vocabulary practice (downloadable worksheets), grammar quizzes and reading comprehension exercises, there’s lots here for self-study.

A really thorough site for pure resources is the appropriately-named Business English Resources.com. Maybe not the prettiest site to look at, nonetheless it has a great database of self-study resources, plans for teachers, and a nice section on business idioms.
